Make your own sterling silver ring in this two-hour workshop! We will focus on two-part methods for the ancient metal casting method known as cuttlebone casting. Cuttlefish bone is desirable for making jewelry because it is easy to access and use, and because it leaves a distinct woodgrain-like pattern in the cast pieces.
In this class, we will focus on techniques and strategies for carving and casting into the cuttlefish bone, specifically by melting and pouring metal to a sterling silver ring. Some finishing and polishing techniques will be covered.
All materials and tools provided. Please wear closed-toed shoes to class.
No prerequisite or previous experience required.
